The Test Kitchen is particularly popular with our visitors. This test kitchen was one of five (the others were located at our home office) used for testing the 34,000 recipes that were sent in for the Cookie of all Cookies Contest. The resulting book, “Best of Country Cookies” is available for purchase right here at the Greendale Visitor Center.
Taking a closer look, you’ll notice that we use the same kind of appliances in our Test Kitchen as you would use in your own home. That way, you’ll be able to achieve the same results that you see here when you try the recipes for yourself. All of the recipes featured in the cookbooks and magazines are tested in similar kitchens at the home office.
Demonstrations (many with free, delicious samples) are regularly held on Saturdays by our culinary specialist. These demos can include recipes from the featured Taste of Home cookbook of the week or special “How To” sessions that incorporate many of our gadgets. Feel free to ask for tips during these demos. Our test kitchen staff is always happy to help!
The kitchen is also used for many other things throughout the week. This is where our fresh baked cookies come out of the oven every morning and also where we test new products. Some of our All-Inclusive and Experiential tours feature test kitchen demos just for your group. We also hold cooking classes several times each year.
